The Institutional Engagement Manager is responsible for ensuring high visibility and readership of, and engagement with, The Chronicle of Higher Education and Chronicle of Philanthropy content for an institutional audience.   The focus of this position is to develop and deliver a replicable marketing and engagement program that drives awareness and adoption of Chronicle content streams, account creation, and increased readership, that ultimately leads to institutional site license subscription renewal. This position reports directly to the Director, Institutional Sales & Engagement in the Content Revenue department.

KEY OUTCOMES: 

  • Develop long-term customer partnerships with site license subscribers to meet readership, registration, renewal, and revenue goals.  
  • Increase awareness, activation, and reader engagement across institutions and organizations. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

ENGAGEMENT MARKETING

  • Deliver proactive and regular communication to current site license subscribers to include the promotion of subscription features and content through email marketing campaigns  and newsletters.
  • Develop multi-channel marketing campaigns, including email, display and print ads, direct mail, and social media assets that highlight and promote site license account activation and usage.
  • Provide regular reporting on customer feedback and engagement to include readership/usage metrics and marketing campaign efficacy.
  • Drive connection and relationship with primary account contact(s) and affinity with the broader institutional/organizational audience.
  • Maintain and grow customer contact database and account profiles in CRM to build customer and communication networks.
  • Represent the Chronicle and site license products at library and industry events.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree. 
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ relevant experience in customer engagement and marketing.
  • Demonstrated track record of meeting and exceeding established goals.
  • Experience marketing  content to institutions a plus.
  • Outstanding strategic marketing skills including strong digital marketing and social media expertise.
  • Strong customer engagement and marketing background.
  • Superior relationship management acumen.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication ability and an articulate and professional presentation style.
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task and prioritize projects.
  • Ability to collaborate and work well with clients and colleagues.
  • Experience working with qualitative and quantitative primary consumer research preferred.
  • Experience with higher education and/or nonprofit organizations preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with a CRM system such as NetSuite preferred.
